Editing with Reedsy

I started using Reedsy in 2022, and since then I’ve worked with many writers from across the country. These projects are individually tailored to meet each writer’s needs, so feel free to submit a request and outline the type of editing you have in mind. One of the great things about Reedsy is that each project can be adjusted in terms of editing type, timeline, overall cost, and payment schedule. In addition, Reedsy allows for writers to request editing help for projects of all shapes and sizes, ranging from a single poem to a full-length book manuscript.

Here are the most common options for editing services I provide.

Developmental Editing includes page-by-page notes, covering areas such as content, clarity, sentence structure, grammar, usage, paragraph/stanza/line breaks, and word choice (as well as any other specific areas requested by the writer).

Copy editing (also called line editing) includes a review of punctuation, consistency of grammar & sentence conventions, usage, spelling, and formatting. Comments on minor adjustments like phrasing, sentence clarity, and line breaks can be included as well, if desired.

Proofreading is typically the final step before a manuscript is send out for consideration, and it includes a review of punctuation, consistency of grammar & sentence conventions, mechanics, usage, spelling, and formatting.

Editorial Assessment is a more generalized review of a manuscript and includes notes (typically 2-5 pages) that cover “big picture” areas like strengths of the manuscript, areas that would most benefit from revision/adjustments, and overall style and formatting comments.
